3. Step-by-Step Registration Process
Step 1: Trademark Search
- Check for existing trademarks in the DIP database (https://www.ipthailand.go.th).
- Recommended to hire a trademark agent for a professional search.
Step 2: Filing the Application
- Submit to the Department of Intellectual Property (DIP).
- Required documents:
- Application form (TM.1)
- Trademark specimen (clear image, 5×5 cm)
- List of goods/services (based on Nice Classification)
- Applicant’s ID/passport (for individuals)
- Company documents (for businesses)
- Power of Attorney (POA) (if using an agent)
Step 3: Examination (6–12 months)
- DIP reviews for distinctiveness & conflicts.
- May issue an office action (requesting clarifications).
Step 4: Publication (60 days)
- Approved trademarks are published in the Trademark Gazette.
- Oppositions can be filed by third parties.
Step 5: Registration & Certificate
- If there is no opposition, the trademark is registered.
